Willem Dafoe — Sequence Portrait Series by Herring & Herring, lighting by Sebastian Beckmann

Black and white editorial portrait series exploring character, form, and conceptual studio direction

Photography: Herring & Herring (Jesper Carlsen, Dimitri Scheblanov)
Talent: Willem Dafoe
Publication: Sequence Magazine

Lighting Execution: Sebastian Beckmann / Assisting Productions

Created in collaboration with Herring & Herring (Jesper Carlsen and Dimitri Scheblanov), this series with Willem Dafoe unfolds through a sequence of monochrome studio portraits and conceptual interventions. Working within a controlled environment, the session moves between precise tailoring and unexpected gestures—objects, textures, and minimal set elements disrupting the stillness of the frame.

Lighting by Sebastian Beckmann, developed through Assisting Productions, shapes the structure of each image, emphasizing contrast, surface, and the physical presence of the subject. The result is a body of work that holds both clarity and tension, where each frame feels deliberate yet open to interpretation.
